Finally, my review! Sorry if it's long. I'm rambling.

It had been about 4 months since the Knobs had played live and the band and the fans were so very excited about this show! Talking to Gator a little bit before the show he said he was kind of nervous. Can you imagine? Gator was nervous! There were so many Knobettes and Knobby guys there. Fans came from all across the country to see them. I think there were between 25 and 30 people that I knew personally who had traveled for this show. It was an adventure for all and so much fun to see all of my friends. The time went by so fast though! All the planning and anticipation and the whoosh, next thing you know you're back on the plane going back home!

SOHO is one of my favorite places to see the Knobs. You get to stand up and dance during the show. It's a nice atmosphere and they have plenty of room for us to all sit together and have dinner. The food is excellent and if you're not careful the drinks will knock you on your butt. The staff is always very nice to us and help us out with our special needs.

As always, the band put on an incredible show for us. They are always full of surprises and you can bet the show will be different every time. They even change the words to some of the original Knobs songs like they are a work in progress. The jam sessions between Gator and Ape blow my mind.

Ref and I decided to view the show from the back of the room this time, near the soundboard and the sound back there was incredible! You could actually hear all the vocals. The only thing I missed by doing that is you can't see the guys play. You can see their guitars going up and down but you can't see their fingers fly across the strings. It was a full rockin' house!

Here are my thoughts on some of the songs....

Miss Jean - I loved that song from the first time I heard it. Great riff! They changed the words, singing "Lost in space, again" instead of "all messed up, again."

Tequila! - My favorite song of the night. OMG! They had the place rockin' with that one. The fans loved it so much, the band played it twice during the night. It always amazes me how Gator can take a song like that and make it better somehow. I don't know how he does it! No horns needed on this one with Gator and Ape playing the melody. Also, the first time they played it they popped "Guitar Boogie Shuffle" in there and it was so natural! Somewhere in the middle they also did Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love." It was so exciting!

Midnight Flier - (formerly, "Ticket Home") OMG, could two guitarist be more in sync with each other? It blows me away every time. You feel like you need to rest after this one. It's so high energy. This is another song that they have been playing with for the last few years.

Rainy Day Woman - Seeing Darian play with his dad is one of the most touching things I ever saw. We loved it!

You Can't Do That - One of my favorite Beatles songs! Swampfox at his finest!! He sounds like Lennon and he really did this song justice. He's so full of energy!

I Am A Child - This is a gorgeous Neil Young song. Gator and Ape shared the vocals and it was just beautiful. One of the prettiest songs I ever heard. For some reason though people seem to talk a lot through the slow songs and you just want to give them a smack, you know? Especially in the back. Maybe it's because they got all revved up on Tequila.

Little Egypt - This was another favorite of mine. They made me laugh they were having so much fun with it. They did a great job and they were so funny! Swampfox added some great sound effects on the vocals.

Roadrunner & Bumble Bee - These songs are always a hoot because you get a great guitar jam! I mean, damn!! We love it!!

Gator's Toys - I call it that because Gator went off on what seemed to be a little "experiment" right before Bumble Bee and it was freaky and amazing at the same time. He played with his pedals and feedback. I'm not sure I can describe it. Sometimes you felt like you were at a racetrack hearing the engines roar and sometimes locked up in the loony bin. haha! It was very interesting! I think everyone kind of stood there with their mouths open in amazement.

Stereo - This is one of my very favorite Knobs songs of all time! Swampfox is a maniac on those drums! The crowd goes nuts for this one!

Funky Butt - Gator, is so damn funny. I understand this is someone else's song but I can't believe he didn't write it. It fits him. He's such a big kid. I love it. Oh, and at this point in the show, they had been playing for so long that poor Lance had to ask for permission to go to the restroom. So, Gator sang this little ditty while he was away. HAHAHA!

Slowdown - I love Swampfox! This Beatles song ROCKS! I love the way they play it and the way Swampfox sings. He does his rock & roll screams and sound effects. Awesome!

Battleship Chains - The whole band gets to sing on this one. Lance gets to sing and he's got a real nice voice. He's so quite during the show. He just stands there tearing up that bass all night long but it's one of those subtle things you don't realize because he's so laid back. He's really the knobby icing on the cake. Chinner came out and played with them on this song. Even sang a little too. But he's funny. He stands in the dark and usually with his back to us. Like Dylan! LOL! Love to see him out there though. It's fun.

Powderfinger - Nobody does Neil Young like the Apeman. It was great to hear this song again.

Just a couple of pictures I love. Thanks to Marcia and Donna for sharing your pictures. I didn't get to take many so I'm really happy to see them.

Well, that's it. I love this band and their music so much. Thanks to the Knobs for an incredible show and for being so very nice to fans. Knobettes, it's always a blast!
Mr. Gator, I hope you put out a cd soon because it's a real shame that your original music is going unheard. You have some incredible, exciting songs to share and your fans are longing to hear it.
