The Dirty Knobs Star
The idea for the star was born on the official DK forum. A group of fans had the very poetic notion of naming a star after this new, very cool band, The Dirty Knobs. Nancy suggested a company. Although later we discovered that the International Registry wasn't official or recognized by the astronomical community, we felt that band deserved a star in the sky. So we all contributed to the fund and purchased the name of a star on the edge of Orion. This was a gift from the heart, for the band and music we love so much.
On December 23, 2001 at the Sweetwater Saloon, Linda presented an envelope with the registry certificate to Mike. He accepted it graciously, thanked us and responded with the photo above...
